REader Notes
March 27, 2014
This was my second meeting with Ms. Tate. Since I switched my topic from looking at the psychological side of music to the side of storytelling, my topic has felt more honed in, and I can more clearly articulate my project and where I plan to go with it. Ms. Tate was able to pick up on that, and seemed very pleased with where my project is going. She even acknowledged that my topic was more interesting and also more engaging. Ms. Tate told me that her God-Son is a singer-songwriter, and she gave me his email! I am definitely going to reach out to him for a possible interview.

February 12, 2014:
My initial meeting with my reader, Ms. Tate! I had never met her before, but going into the meeting I was expecting her to be very resourceful due to the fact that she was a librarian. She helped me realize that my topic right now is pretty broad, and narrowing into a specific aspect of the effects of music on a specific thing, such as education or culture. This idea has so far really been able to direct my thinking for my project, and I haven't felt nearly as lost in some giant realm as I did before. Ms. Tate gave me some suggestions on great reads about music and its psychological effects, many of those written by the author Oliver Sacks. I've spent some time looking into those books and they have given me awesome amounts of info and helped direct my topic more towards communication, and looking at music in a linguistic sense. My next meeting with Ms. Tate will hopefully be after February break!
