My Songwriting experiment
Objectives:
The goals of this experiment are: -To gather songwriting perspectives from different people with different musical backgrounds. -To see how people's songwriting falls into certain methods of storytelling -To better understand the songwriting/storytelling methods through the process of other people. Set-up/Variables: -5 people with intensive musical/songwriting background -5 people with little to no musical/songwriting background -Use of equal number of boys and girls overall -All the age of 17-18 -Time span of 48 hours to write the song Explanation: In this songwriting experiment, I will be collecting field data and attempting to further my research and prove my thesis through the lyrics of different people. In doing so, I will have each person participating write one song. The parameters of the song are in their hands; they can choose the subject, the length, etc. In addition to sending me their lyrics, they will also submit a description in paragraph form of what their song is about and their inspiration for writing it. When the experiment is complete, I will create another page displaying each song along with the writer's analysis of their lyrics. |
