-The songs of the underground railroad
-readings of The Odyssey being sung

What are the facts?
-Songs of the underground railroad used by african americans as a means of communication for helping slaves to escape. Today, they serve as a story for how these slaves sought out their freedom and put it into words.
-The Odyssey was sung in old Greek theaters as epic journeys, and turning that into something musical made it enjoyable for large audiences. It is still told through song and various other techniques today.
Is there a problem/issue?
No, not really.
Can it be changed?
Storytelling is always evolving, and I think it is changing in it's environment. Storytelling was different 50 years ago, and it will be even more different 50 years from now.
Where did we obtain our data and are these reliable sources?
Date was obtained from numerous different online articles as well as looking at a group of concept albums and stories of songwriting techniques. Most of these sources are reliable, but I will always be searching for stronger sources.
Definition:
What is the nature of the problem/issue?
It's not as much of a problem as much as an ongoing question. Storytelling is an art, and we know art is always changing. While the question is no a pressing one, it can help us understand why music is in its current state, and how it will change with storytelling.
To what larger class of things or events does it belong?
The issue definitely is one of social importance.
How/why are these sources/beliefs influencing our definition?
I can imagine our definition of storytelling in music is always changing, and it definitely has to do with the environment in which these stories are in. As an environment changes, so will the story, and therefore a large portion of the music.
Quality:
Is it a good or a bad thing?
It's a great thing! Change in an art form opens doors to (in this case) all new kinds of music. Today, modern storytelling techniques allow us to access all new kinds of stories, and we are able to translate them better than ever before, especially in music.
Whom might it affect?
I guess it affects the listener of the story, and the person/group the story is about.
What happens if we don't do anything?
Storytelling would be lost, and with it, an immense portion of music.
Policy:
Should action be taken?
I mean, no action really needs to be taken besides just continuing to keep stories alive, especially through the median of music; something that is always being done.
Who should be involved in helping to solve the problem/address the issue?
EVERYONE! We should all always be telling stories to keep cultures and ideas alive, and doing so through music makes it an easy process that most people can do.
